Since 1923, the ‘Old White Maiden of North Broad Street’ has stood guard over Philadelphia City Hall, reporting about the City and all its activities. The former Elverson Building still stands eighteen stories tall, and is registered in the National Register of Historic Places. The dome on top of the building is an elaborate lounge, reserved for the best of customers the Inquirer had. For over 92 years, the Inquirer building remained the icon of power of the Philadelphia media scene.
Today, the building is empty and has fallen into disrepair. But, it use to be alive with action. Read about what actually happened there in ‘Inky Tales’.
